Welcome to Bounceback Bel’s Big Book of Learning Powers!
Hi there! I’m Bounceback Bel, and I live in the Highlands with a bunch of brilliant learning friends. We all have different learning powers—like determination, cooperation, curiosity, and concentration— that help us grow our brains every day.
But guess what? Learning isn’t always easy. Sometimes we make mistakes. Sometimes we feel stuck. And sometimes we even feel like giving up.
That’s when our learning powers come in!
In this book, you’ll read our stories, meet our animal friends, and discover how you can use your own learning powers too. After each story, you’ll find a little activity to help you think, talk, and practise what you’ve learned.
So come along-let’s bounce back, try again, and grow together!
Love, Bel

Helping Children Build Confidence and Curiosity
At the heart of Amanda’s approach as The Learning Process Coach is one powerful idea: children can learn how to learn – and -when they do, they grow in confidence, self-awareness, and resilience for life.
Through playful conversation, storytelling, reflection, and gentle NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) techniques, Amanda helps children understand their learning process in a way that’s fun, friendly, and meaningful. By using simple language and relatable tools, children begin to understand that their brains can grow and change – just like bubblegum! And when things feel tricky, they’re encouraged to say: “I can’t do it… yet.”

Amanda is a truly wonderful teacher. All three of our children were taught by Amanda and learnt about the ‘Learning Powers’. These fabulous powers contributed significantly to our children’s enthusiasm and confidence for learning, the concept is fun and relatable, and provides children with 'powers' to not give up, use their determination, be curious, and make sure to have a go - powers that as adult learners we should also aspire to! I am very much looking forward to reading Amanda's book and am delighted that she is sharing this concept with us all.

Fiona MacDonald
Hello! I am Fiona MacDonald, mum to 3 wonderful young girls aged 7, 9 and 11. So far, my two eldest children have been incredibly fortunate to have had Mrs Menzies as their teacher in the middle section of Primary School. All 3 girls are really quite different in personalities. The eldest, Isla, is quietly confident and gets on with her work. She follows the rules and woe betide if someone else doesn't do the same. She works hard and always tries her best. Middle child, Eilidh, is an emotional rollercoaster. She is a clever wee girl but has the confidence of a baked bean. She worries about everything and has so little confidence in herself, despite all that we do at home and of course at school to boost this confidence, the biggest tears you've ever seen fall far too easily. Third child, lona, is a classic third child. But as I said, only the two eldest have had Mrs Menzies as their teacher, so far. So how has Mrs Menzies and her magical ways impacted my girls? When Isla, the eldest, went into her class at first, she was quiet, kept her head down, and didn't say too much. After Mrs Menzies worked her magic, she had blossomed into a quietly confident young lady, not afraid to put her hand up, not afraid to ask questions, not afraid to ask why nor make mistakes and ready to take on the world of being a senior pupil in Primary School. She knew the power of YET, she knew she had a bubblegum brain and that learning in and around the learning pit was normal and indeed exciting and would take her anywhere she wanted to go in her learning journey.
